Our lesson plans are based on the phonics program, Spell to Write and Read by Wanda Sanseri. SWR is a multi-sensory approach that allows children to write and spell their way into reading. The program is thorough, systematic, logical, and economical. Your child will delve into the wonderful world of learning the English language. He will learn to read and write over half of the 70 basic phonograms this year. Your student will also begin to memorize spelling rules and manipulate sounds into words. All of these wonderful mental exercises will lay a solid foundation for your child’s future success in spelling and reading.

Because we understand learning a new phonics program (coupled with lesson plan writing) can be overwhelming, LPL has formulated 36 weeks of easy to follow lesson plans for Pre-Kindergarten. Included with the lesson plans are a Teacher Reference Book, an Assessment Book, a dictation sheet, spelling test sheets, and a wall sized set of D'Nealian abc's. Not included, but highly recommended, is the Pre-Kindergarten Penmanship Book specially designed to follow our phonics lesson plans.

Because the pace and content of our lesson plans err on the challenging side, Pre-Kindergarten Phonics and Spelling Lesson Plans are recommended for children ages 4 to 7.
